Ofori-Atta to Be Declared Wanted Again if He Fails to Meet Deadlines – OSP Strikes Back
Former Finance Minister Sues OSP After Being Declared a Fugitive

Accra, Ghana – March 17, 2025 – The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has issued a stern warning to former Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori-Atta, stating that he will be declared a wanted person again if he fails to appear before the OSP on the scheduled date of June 2, 2025. This comes after Ofori-Atta filed a lawsuit against the OSP for previously declaring him a fugitive from justice.

In a press release dated March 17, 2025, the OSP confirmed that it had received a formal request from Ofori-Atta to remove his name from its list of wanted persons. The former minister assured the OSP that he would make himself available for questioning on a definite date. Acting in good faith, the OSP granted his request and removed his name from the list, pending his appearance on June 2, 2025.

However, the OSP has made it clear that failure by Ofori-Atta to honor this commitment will result in his name being re-entered on the wanted list. Additionally, the OSP will consider him a fugitive from justice and take further action, including issuing an Interpol Red Notice and initiating extradition proceedings in any jurisdiction where he may be found.

The OSP emphasized its unwavering commitment to enforcing the law and ensuring that Ofori-Atta answers for his role as the prime suspect in five ongoing corruption and corruption-related investigations.
