YEA-GES Recruitment of 10,000 Personnel as Teaching Assistants, Kitchen Staff and Others
July 29, 2024, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) is announcing the opening of applications for the highly anticipated School Support Programme (SSP). In collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), this initiative aims to bolster our nation’s educational infrastructure and provide vital support to our schools.
Opportunities Available:
- Community Education Teaching Assistants (CETA):
- Eligibility: Minimum of a Diploma education.
- Role: Support teachers and enhance the learning experience for students.
- School Guards & Kitchen Assistants:
- Eligibility: At least a Senior High School (SHS) education.
- Role: Maintain a safe and nurturing environment for students.
In total, we are set to employ 10,000 enthusiastic and dedicated youth through this programme.

MoU Details
The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has signed another Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to recruit 10,000 qualified persons to serve in Secondary, Junior High, and Primary schools across the country. These personnel will serve as kitchen assistants, security guards, and teaching assistants to fill gaps within the GES.
Giving a short address on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YEA, the Deputy CEO in Charge of Operations, Alhaji Bashiru Ibrahim, highlighted the significance of this agreement. He noted that this is the third MoU between the YEA and GES, following successful agreements in 2015 and 2018.
According to Alhaji Bashiru Ibrahim, the latest agreement will enable the YEA to recruit:
- 4,000 kitchen assistants
- 4,000 security guards
- 2,000 teaching assistants
This effort aims to enhance staffing in schools across the country.
Benefits and Allowances
- Teaching Assistants:
- Qualification: Minimum of a diploma certificate.
- Allowance: GH¢1,000 monthly.
- Security Guards and Kitchen Staff:
- Allowance: GH¢500 monthly.
The YEA is supporting the GES with part of its entitlements under the GET Fund and encourages prospective applicants to apply for the vacancies.
Official Statements
Mr. Stephen Kweku Owusu, Deputy Director General (Management Service), expressed gratitude to the YEA for its assistance. He emphasized that recruiting 10,000 personnel will significantly augment the GES staff, reducing the pressure on existing staff and boosting teaching and learning for better results in our schools.
