Drama Meets Literature in an Unforgettable Learning Experience

A thrilling stage adaptation of The Generous Hunter—one of Ghana’s beloved short stories from The Cockcrow collection—left Junior High School students in awe, blending entertainment with powerful life lessons.

Held at the Word of Faith Christian School auditorium in Dodowa, the performance transformed the classroom story into a vibrant, interactive experience. Students, who had previously only read the tale in textbooks, were mesmerized as the characters leaped off the page and onto the stage.

The Story That Captivated Hearts

The Generous Hunter follows Asempa, a kind-hearted and honest hunter whose generosity earns him admiration—and envy. After freeing a snake and a rat from his traps, he receives magical rewards: a life-saving herb and a pot of gold. But when jealous rivals frame him for theft, Asempa faces execution—until a twist of fate reveals the truth.

Key Themes:
✔ Kindness pays – Asempa’s good deeds save him.
✔ Truth triumphs over deceit – The wicked fall into their own traps.
✔ Integrity matters – Staying honest, even in hardship, leads to justice.

A Performance That Brought Lessons to Life

Under the expert direction of Godwin Adom Awador (CEO of GOG Theatre Company), the actors delivered a powerful performance. Their vivid portrayal helped students connect deeply with the story’s moral lessons.

An interactive session after the play, led by Michael Rexford Addo Carbonu, encouraged critical thinking. Students confidently analyzed themes, proving that boldness in learning leads to success. As Carbonu noted:

“A fearful and shy student is always close to failure. Confident learners are neither shy nor afraid.”
