ORGANISED LABOUR
PRESS STATEMENT
On Friday, 12th July, 2024, Organised Labour called on all workers to join an
indefinite strike action starting from today, Monday, 15th July, 2024 to back its
demand for the termination of the process towards the sale of 60% of SSNIT’s
shares in the four hotels.
In a letter dated 12th July, 2024 (Ref: BC/12/07/2024) SSNIT informed
Organised Labour that it has terminated the sale of 60% of its stake in the
hotels.
At an emergency meeting held today, Monday, 15th July, 2024, Organised
Labour has decided to call off the strike. All workers are requested to resume
work on Tuesday, 16th July, 2024.
We are giving SSNIT one month to engage Organised Labour to address all
outstanding issues related to the management of our pensions otherwise we
advise ourselves.

Invitation to Emergency Organised Labour Leadership Meeting
Organised Labour on Friday, 12th July 2024, declared a massive strike against the sale of 60% of SSNIT Hotels shares, with the effective date of the strike being Monday, 15th July 2024. This action, which could result in a shutdown of almost all essential services in the country, prompted some potential buyers to withdraw their bids, and a circulating letter indicates SSNIT’s discontinuation of the sale.
Organised Labour is convening an emergency meeting on Monday to address the issue. The details of the invitation are provided below:
