Classroom Games that can be incorporated into lessons to make it engaging

Your class doesn’t have to be boring any more.

As teachers, we mostly may be aware of strategies that will enhance learning but for some reasons, we will be in haste to just deliver the concept and go.

It makes students wonder what has happened, some students who can memorize facts will be okay because they’ll go and do so, the rest nothing.

There are many gaming strategies that can be used in the classroom.

Video Gaming

There are video games that explains concepts or make learning easy, you can download and share with learners to play, since it is a game even when they go home, they will continue to play, helping them to learn.

Games on spelling, additions, identification, parts of an object etc.

Flash Card Games

Design a flash card of some aspect of the lesson, Group learners considering GESI, let a group have part of the cards, and ask other groups to search for the missing parts, the group that finds the missing parts wins.

You can also design something like the Elements of the periodic table on the flash cards, Name of element, Symbol, Atomic Number, and share with learners, When the element name stands, the one with the symbol will also have to stand and the one with the number as well.

Everyone will be involved. Do you think students will sleep in such a class.

Money

Share papers with learners representing money in their groups, put price on each questions or task, the group that wins collect the equivalent amount from the others, at the end the group with more money wins, this challenges them to do better.

Helping the weaker students, more money can be assigned to weakers students who make accurate attempts, so in the group, if the weaker student is able to answer they can make twice what everyone is making for the group, in so doing, you’ll see all group members helping their weaker one to answer questions to get more money. No one will be left behind.
