Using ICT / Technology in Classroom 1 using mobile phone

Integration of ICT or technology in education simply refers to the use of technology to enhance the student learning experience.

Utilizing different types of technology in the classroom, including a virtual classroom, creates learners who are actively engaged with learning objectives.

We may not have the necessary tools to incorporate ICT tools in the classroom like it’s down else where, but we can’t also completely forget about it because we do not have all the tools.

Mobile phones were once considered a distraction in the classroom, some schools still seizes teachers phone  so they don’t take it to classroom. The distraction aspect may be true  to an extend, but we can’t rule out the important in the classroom.

What others are doing

 

Most Teachers are now using their Phones and Laptops to show to leaners and link their learning experience to real life.

In the course of the teaching, teachers use their phones to search for images or allow leaners come to use the phone to search for answers.

Teaching is like speaking with a little child, you have to change many sentences before the child get the point, frequent change of methodology, the use of ICT makes the work easy as learners may have seen the image or the item before but could not associate it with what you are teaching.

How to use the Phone

In large classes, if it is an image you want to show to them, search for the image, give it to one of them to take it round.

You can also call leaners in groups to come and watch or see the video.

Instead of struggling to describe or draw an item just to explain it, let the learners see it for themselves.

Internet connectivity may be a challenge, prepare before class.

 

All may not go as planned, government may not be able to provide all the necessary tool, but as a Teacher you must incorporate ICT into your Teaching, for the benefit of the children and to your own benefit.

If you fail to do so, you may get opportunity somewhere and you won’t be used to using ICT in teaching.

Do the little you can now.
